Season 1 introduced the concept by Scott Gillen of having 10 teams of amateur drivers compete against each other for a cash prize. The teams are made of 1 driver, a crew chief, and at least one mechanic. To even the field, all drivers race the same car, the Pontiac Solstice GXP, a 260hp, rear drive roadster with 4-wheel independent Bilstein adjustable suspension and (more…)

Hi everyone. This is Tony. You want to know why I am posting here and what is the problem with the site updates. I will tell you. It was posted before that Kon was in a car accident that left him with herniated discs in his back at L4\L5. He has been struggling with the pain and lack of mobility since last year. He recently underwent surgical injections to try and get some relief which has been slow going. On top of that, Mrs. Kon had a baby! He has a newborn son, so lets congratulate on that. So we are trying to shift some things around so that things can go on for all of you. Please accept our apologies for letting things get out of hand. -Tony

SCM BREAKING NEWS!!

It seems that Nick (”Hogan”) Bollea son of the Great Terry “Hulk” Hogan was in a car accident Sunday night in St. Petersburg around 7:30pm. He was driving with a passenger and lost control of of his Toyota Supra and hit the median going airborn backwards into a tree. He and his passenger were airlifted to a local hospital with Nick in serious condition and the passenger in critical condition. When you see the crash photos you’ll know why! It’s truly gruesome vechicular carnage. The link below has a slide show of photos.

http://www.tmz.com/2007/08/26/new-pics-of-nick-hogans-crash/

No details yet on Supra but considering his status and access to financial resources, one can only imagine a 2JZ motor with a very large turbo and all the compulsory mods. We will look for details on the cars setup but as for the crash, we’ve all seen boost control glitches cause serges that can send a car out of control as can clutch problems (try throwing a high-boosted car into 2nd instead of 4th and see the result!)

Invariably, all of the trash talkers (and freaks) come out at night and the comments of “Poor little rich boy”, or “That’s what happens when you have more car than ability”, etc.,etc. We have one word L-A-M-E!! >:( It’s a HUMAN being that got hurt here and YOU DON’T know WHY it happened… (more…)

The first installment in our new Media review section is for the G4 TV Station program “Street Fury”.

Street Fury is a mainstream “underground” tuner lifestyle show hosted by “Big C” (aka “Big Carlton” aka Carlton Lewis) who is a self proclaimed ‘pimp’ with the ladies and a hardcore tuner enthusiast with the fellas. He talks a good game, but can he back it up??

Big C travels the country (and the world too) to bring you the latest information on what’s hot or not in the tuner world. Everything from D1 Drifting, to the SEMA show, to the original Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan. He shows you the hotest cars under the hood, at the track, and sometimes from behind the drivers seat too. He needs some more seat time for sure but he does ‘aiight’ for the most part .

Not to forget his “pimp” status, he has always got a couple fly ladies strutin’ through the show and he makes no apologies for recognizing that flyness complete with obligatory ‘booty shots’ in the camera. The tuner lifestyle definitely relate with fine women and Big C will find ‘em! All in all, it is an entertaining show if you are into the world (and you are cause your here right?) and is worth watching or at least recording to watch later.

411:

Street Fury airs on Sunday’s at 12pm (check local listings) and you can read more about the show on their site: http://www.g4tv.com/streetfury/index.html.

The link below leads to an article from a California source that says the police are crushing cars caught in street racing. This is part of their latest effort to try and reduce the amount of incidents that occur. According to the research, 13 people are said to have died as a result of street racing.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070620/ap_on_re_us/crushed_hot_rods

While we don’t condone death or injury on anyone, a few things spring to mind. A) The “true” street racers are an organized unit moving quickly and quietly to deserted patches of highways or backroads. B) It’s the punk-@ss “ricers” that are doing all the stupid sh*t and getting people killed. C) California has DUI deaths in the 1000’s so it seems to me that someone is looking in the wrong area for people to arrest.

Yes, Sport Compact Miami was down for the first time in almost 3 years for about 5 days. An as yet unexplained problem with our host took out the directory on the server were our site resides (and forum, and blog too) So we had NO access to upload, download, or otherwise see our site. All of our visitors were shown a generic “404 Not Found” message and nothing more. (Rest assured that we will use custom error pages in the future.)

So the site came back up a couple of days ago but we are still unable to access our FTP to upload or make changes to files. In fact the quota manager on our CP states we have negative space which points to 1and1 losing a server or hard drive array were our site resides. We are still trying get the answers from their technicians so bear with us.

Someone had to put 2+2 together eventually. Fast cars + No track = Street Racing. It’s as simple an equation as any grade school problem. Sure South Florida has race tracks. Homestead Speedway’s 1/8th mile strip (that’s hardly available due to the constant flow of events) way down past SW 312th and Speeway Blvd. Or there’s Moroso Motosports Park all the way in Palm Beach off PGA Blvd. It’s a full 1/4 mile but, they only have open drag events once or twice a month and for most Dade residents, it’s an hour plus drive to maybe get 2 passes down the 1320. Not worth it for most. Immokalee has a 1/8 track but that’s also 1-1/2 drive for most and it’s truly out in BFE. With options like that, no wonder you meet your friends in some warehouse district, line ‘em up, run, and get home in time for Leno. (more…)

Here we are at phase #2 in the SCM Tuning project. In this update, the catback exhaust and race muffler were installed. Now not having any tools to cut and weld pipe, I needed to have the setup made from scratch, ‘truly’ custom. I went over to mufflers for less and had them hack off the itty stock system (2″) and weld up stainless 2.5″ tubing all the way out the back. Then they rigged up custom hangers and put the RS Type on nice and tight.
